Looking for a new tree to add to your landscape? Look no further...
The Tupelo or Black Gum Tree is DJ's pick for the month of October. "I have to say, it is the most spectacular tree around."
The summer leaves are a deep dark green with a high gloss appearance, but the most outstanding part of this tree is the fall foliage with many shades of yellow, orange, bright red, purple or scarlet that may appear on the same branch. When the bark matures, it turns to a medium gray and some say it resembles alligator hide. The fruit is bluish black and is loved by many birds. The Tupelo grows 30'-50' high, with a 20'-30' spread. It does well in a variety of moisture conditions.
