It's about time to move any plants that spent the summer outside back indoors!
It’s best to do this when the indoor and outdoor temperatures are about the same. Spray them with a safe solution like our Triple Action spray to avoid bringing pests inside. Treating with System Insecticide granules also protects your plants from any critters longer term as the plant takes the solution up through its roots.
Pay close attention to the natural light your plants are now getting and move them accordingly. As the days get shorter, you may need to move some needier plants closer to a window. Grow lights are another easy way to add beneficial light to darker spaces in your home, or try out our grow bulbs and turn any lamp you already have into a grow light!
Always check the plants soil before watering, and ensure the pot is draining properly. Houseplants tend to need less frequent watering during the fall and winter. Try a moisture meter to know when to water! Always water thoroughly so that you see water in the saucer. Discard excess water after a few hours.
Expect some leaf loss! Less light means less energy to maintain the summer growth. It’s ok to have some leaf dropping as your plant adjusts to being inside and the lower light conditions.
