Cherry Sour Cherry Tree 'North Star'

The North Star sour cherry tree is a cold-hardy, naturally dwarf cultivar perfect for smaller gardens and landscapes. Reaching just 7 to 9 feet at maturity, this self-pollinating variety produces abundant crops of large, bright red cherries ready for harvest in June. The tart fruit is ideal for pies, preserves, and fresh eating.

North Star thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, requiring minimal pruning and maintenance. Its compact size makes it excellent for containers or tight spaces where standard cherry trees won't fit. The white spring blossoms attract pollinators, while the summer fruit draws birds and wildlife to your garden.

This hardy cultivar tolerates cold winters and performs well across northern and temperate zones. Plant in a sheltered location with good air circulation to minimize disease pressure. A reliable producer year after year, North Star delivers consistent harvests without the sprawl of larger fruit trees.
