Pale Purple Coneflower thrives in well-drained soil and full to partial sun. Once established, the deep taproot makes it extremely drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, though difficult to relocate. Avoid overly moist conditions, which can cause rot. This native perennial reaches 3 feet tall with delicate pale purple to pink blooms appearing in early summer. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies while providing larval food for Ottoe-skipper butterflies. Historically valued by Native Americans for medicinal roots used in herbal tonics and remedies. Plant in spring or fall for best establishment. Space 18–24 inches apart. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming throughout the season.
